Q: It appears that you have a strong passion for giving back to the community? How did you choose the charities you support?

A:We actively support two charities – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Communities in Schools of North Carolina (CISNC). The daughter of one of the founders of this website has juvenile diabetes and it is a passion for both of the founders to accelerate finding a cure for this disease. Juvenile diabetes is the most severe form of diabetes. Children and adults diagnosed with juvenile diabetes are insulin dependent and they cannot grow out of this disease – their only way out is a cure. Juvenile diabetes takes a harsh toll on the body and serious complications such as blindness, vascular damage and kidney failure are an ever-present threat until a cure is found.

The creators also have a strong desire to provide children who are less fortunate the opportunity to stay in school and prepare for life. “Communities in Schools of North Carolina,” (CISNC) which is part of the national organization “Communities in Schools” does just that! Communities in Schools brings the “five basics” into the school:

  1. A personal one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
  2. A safe place to learn and grow
  3. A marketable skill to use upon graduation
  4. A chance to give back to peers and community
  5. A healthy start and a healthy future

In addition, you’ll notice that we have a random code number that you must enter before submitting a story or asking for advice. This random code minimizes the possibility of you receiving spam.
