War Between Execs

War Between Execs

Our Marketing Manager was promoted to Chief Operations Officer late last year by the company CEO. However, the company Vice President was against it since they were in bad terms or should I say, “mortal enemies.” It has a terrible effect on us though. There was one instance that I was tasked to develop a web page created by our COO. I did what she asked me but our VP interfered and wanted me to make changes according to her will. I clarified with our COO on the alterations to the site and she got mad. I was torn between whom to follow. I couldn’t disregard my COO because it was her page, but I also couldn’t neglect my VP since she was on a higher position. I am disappointed with these two executives. Both of them should be fired from work. Besides, they contribute to the reasons for labor turn-over.

DAMN THOSE HIPO'S (HIghest Paid Officer). The rational answer for this is to test whether the design of the VP and yours obliged to the company's goal and objective. Test the design thru A/B testing or multivariate. Who ever converts more...WIIINNSSSS.

What company is this? It's a shame they act like no professionals do. They are addressed as execs but they lack leadership. This story seems very familiar to me. I heard a story like this before from a friend working at a web staffing company at the Philippines.

I think they should fight in the ring, but seems like they look like david and goliath, wahahahahahhahahahaha

I have observed these behaviors more often than you could imagine from executives. We assume titles correlate with professionalism and judgment. Not quite. You may want to institute an in-house market research (call it a task force) to evaluate the web page. As the other blogger wrote, also test the page vs your company's mission statement. These individuals may be masters at managing "up". The President and/or CEO may perceive they are awesome leaders. I would contact HR anonymously with feedback (best to be specific but you obviously cannot or your knees will be cut off). HR needs to have a heads up.
