I Thought We Were Friends…

I temporarily worked at an advertising agency three years ago. I started with my then best friend and we were on probationary employment status for six months. During the first months of work, we were always helping each other and we went home together every day. It was fun working there because I knew that she’s there to support me. But, it did not go smoothly after a while. I thought that I was just paranoid on her competitive behavior towards me. I did not realize the depth of our conflict until the day I was fired. She got the job permanently and I was dumped. I saw a former colleague a few days later and she told me that my friend talked with the boss behind my back. She backstabbed me just to get the position. Until now, I still can’t forgive her for what she did.

This has happend to me more than once. What I learned is, you cannot trust anyone. "Everything is fair in Love, War & Business".

My best friend reciently stabbed me in the back too. I was so hurt, angry, hurt, and pissed off all at once. Since then she has told me sorry and I accepted, but in reality, things will never be the same. But I don't believe that you should lose faith and trust in all people. You have to realize that you and her met for a reason and that reason has been fulfilled and you have learned and grew. If life was always bliss, then you'd never grow. Put it away and move on. You and she might be able to move on from this, but like me, probably will never totally let your guard down when it comes to her. I think that every person deserves a fair shot at being trusted, just learn to protect your heart a little bit more.

I started a new job. I was befriended by a coworker who came along right after myself to the job. I have work as a manager for years now and trusted with all areas of any business. Recently, I was recognized by one of the owners and suddenly this coworker became cold and distant. I call her knowing something was wrong. She tells me that when she was shutting my computer down one day that I asked her to, she sees her employee payroll open. I told her our account probably left that open because he logs into my computer. She replied, "Well, it's not the first time." I told her "I could careless what she got paid and really I don't even know." Then I find out I am suddenly restricted from making reports and other tasks. Like I commited a crime or something. I absolutely hate going to work now. I have never been treated like that. If I didn't need the income I certainly would just walk away.
