I worked with a sales Rep. in Pennsylvania many years ago. We had a contest going on at the time so there was alot of buzz in the field. We were out making calls together and it started raining. When we pulled in the parking lot to make our next call. We reviewed our data and I was prepared to step out of the car to make the call. When I opened the car door, he said; "Sorry, I don't work in the rain!". It was funny the first four times he said it. After that, it was not funny! he was never that successful, and I understood why after that day.

The story about not working in the rain reminded me about a situation I found myslf in a few years back. In my third year of teaching, I was placed in a first grade classroom. The class had twice as many students as was acceptable by the district, so a new teacher had to be hired. The new teacher arrived and she was placed in my room so we could team teach. I taught in the morning, because that was too early for her and she was unable to pronounce spelling words clearly enough for the students to understand what she was saying. Right after lunch, she would teach math and I would walk around helping students or I would be grading the morning's work. Well, on her first Friday here, we came in from lunch and I was waiting for her to start her lesson 5 minutes passes, 10 minutes then I tell her the students are restless and waiting for her to start their math lesson. Her exact words were, " Oh, didn't I tell you? I don't teach on Fridays." I couldn't believe, but she never did, and when the class was split into two separate rooms, she put the lessons on the board on her first day in there and played cards, on the computer, for the rest of the year (the lesson never changed from that first day). Needless to say she was not rehired for the next school year.

I temporarily worked at an advertising agency three years ago. I started with my then best friend and we were on probationary employment status for six months. During the first months of work, we were always helping each other and we went home together every day. It was fun working there because I knew that she’s there to support me. But, it did not go smoothly after a while. I thought that I was just paranoid on her competitive behavior towards me. I did not realize the depth of our conflict until the day I was fired. She got the job permanently and I was dumped. I saw a former colleague a few days later and she told me that my friend talked with the boss behind my back. She backstabbed me just to get the position. Until now, I still can’t forgive her for what she did.

So, clearly one of my co-workers is not qualified for her position. One example is often times, she relies on her support staff to do her work because she doesn't know how to use basic MS Office programs. In the beginning, I thought this was on purpose, so she wasn't bothered by the "dirty" work, but when she sees something she wants to add to the file and no one is available to do it, it is a very uncomfortable situation. She really doesn't know what to do! To date, 3-4 mishaps have occurred becuase of her errors. The boss is NOT aware that she is the culprit.
How do you bring up the fact to our boss that she SHOULD know these basic computer programs in her role and due to the fact she hasn't just come clean in her inexperience that all staff are spending time with her and fixing her mistakes? In this tight market, every minute in a day is crucial -- this is NOT to best use of anyone's time.
Do you tell or just suck it up and keep up the facade?

The receptionist at the Law Firm where I used to work had a bit of an off color sense of humor. She recieved some mail for one of the Paralegals in the firm who she was always cracking jokes with. She sent an email to her (she thought) that said "There's more of your stupid dirty magazines up here at my desk. You really should stop ordering these things!" She accidently clicked the email address below her intended recipient, and sent the email to one of the Attorney Partners in the firm. She didn't even realize that she did it. He came up from to her desk and said, "Welll? Where is it?" She was completely dumbfounded. "Where's what?!" He said, "You sent me an email....there is .....something....up here for me?" She said all of the blood drained right out of her body as she realized what happened.

I am a female attorney working for a law firm. As a "team building" activity, one of the partners requires a dirty joke to be told by each at our weekly meetings. Literally, we go from person to person with their jokes. (My assistant wastes time to find them for me) The irony is that as attorneys, we fight sexual harrassment cases and I find myself put very uncomfortably in that situation.

We had a coworker that was very talented but had anger issues. If this person was challenge our something did not go their way. This person would begin to argue and his pupils would dilate and a vein would pop out of his forehead. Would be scarry at times.

Competition is said common among sales person. But I don’t believe in that because in our group, we do not intervene with each other’s businesses. (That’s what I thought so) I am so pissed this morning when I learned that a friend and fellow agent had sent a proposal to my target company. She knew that I am marketing group insurance to this prospect. Still, she has the nerves to deal with my future client. Sometimes, friendship is taken for granted for the sake of commission.

I stayed late in the office one day to finish a report in marketing together with my couple coworkers. Before I get my job done, they told me that they would go ahead. I waived to them and continued with my work. After ten minutes, I decided to go home. I passed by the conference room when I heard a peculiar sound. I slightly opened the room and saw my couple colleagues naked and making out. They made a stop-over before going home.

In the early 80s worked with a wonderful woman and co-worker that wore those polyester pull up pants. This was a public office where in any given day the office was filled with clients.
She bent over to place files in a bottom file drawer. The elastic in her waistband snapped. When she straightened up, her polyester pants fell to her ankles. There she was, baring her white cotton undies!
There were peals of laughter everywhere. The good sport she was, her only comment was "this is what happens when one gains a few extra pounds". She nonchalantly pulled them up and found a safety pin.
